This Intermediate publication (intermediate study curriculum (RCM Level 5–6)) serves as an instructive study in keyboard voicing. Pianists must address managing two-part hand coordination and synchronizing pedal changes with harmonic shifts. Passages dominated by flowing keyboard arpeggios that support emotional melodic peaks benefit from conscious dynamic shading. Regarding pedal usage, refresh damper pedal depth synchronously with bass root changes. Study Routine: play the melody forte while ghost-tapping the accompaniment keys silently beneath the surface.

Organized under a 4/4 time signature, the music exhibits a simple quadruple meter with 4 beats per measure. At ♩ = 118 BPM (Allegro moderato), the pacing unfolds in a manner described as lively with energetic forward stride. A core performance guideline: avoid pounding downbeats mechanically; keep the line buoyant through intermediate pulses.

The piece operates in E Minor, governed by a signature with one sharp (F♯, with D♯ harmonic inflection). This tonal center positions E as the primary acoustic anchor, while G Major and the dominant B Major supply contrasting tonal colors. Harmonically, the progression Em → Dm → G → C → F → E7 navigates expressive chord variations (F, E7) returning home cleanly. For the performer, this layout is characterized by a dark melancholic sonority where the raised accidental D♯ supplies dramatic harmonic tension.

1. Recital Staging: This selection integrates smoothly into informal recitals, private studio practice, and collaborative accompaniment.

2. Key Customization: The default key of E Minor suits standard instrumental ranges. Vocalists seeking a lower tessitura can transpose down to D Minor, while high-register singers modulate up to F-sharp Minor. B♭ brass transpose to F-sharp Minor.
