Comptine D'un Autre Été Piano Sheet Music (Free PDF)

Attributed to Yann Tiersen, Comptine D'un Autre Été forms an integral entry in the modern classical keyboard selections. Laid out across 4 pages containing 76 measures, this score draws authenticity from accurate modern sheet transcriptions. Work tracking associates this edition with ISWC identifier `T-6D3.B9D.2F-1` and registry `mbid-6d3b9d2f-sheetpdf`.

Metric propulsion relies on 6/8 (compound duple meter), giving the piece an undulating barcarolle or gigue sway formed by two swinging groups of three eighth notes. Set to a metronome speed of ♩ = 129 BPM (*Allegro*), the overall character feels energetic, driving, and propelled. Pianists should ensure that they preserve the gentle circular sway by letting beats two and three within each group lift naturally.

Set within the harmonic domain of A Minor (zero sharps and zero flats (with G♯ serving as raised harmonic seventh)), the score secures tonal focus on A. Expressive depth is enhanced through secondary pivots into C Major and dominant reinforcement via E Major. Harmonically, the progression Am → Dm → G → C → F → E7 navigates expressive chord variations (F, E7) returning home cleanly. From a tactile perspective, navigating this key delivers a somber diatonic landscape where the G♯ accidental adds a sharp, poignant upward pull.

Positioned within the Intermediate repertoire (transitional keyboard syllabus (ABRSM Grade 4 to Trinity Grade 5)), this work offers valuable training in balance and tone. Performers must concentrate on coordinating independent dynamic levels between hands while maintaining steady metric propulsion. Navigating articulated bass staccatos against singing right-hand runs asks for deliberate finger weight distribution. To preserve clarity, use light, shallow pedaling to enhance acoustic warmth without muddling inner voices. Preparatory Exercise: record your practice with emphasis on listening for crisp pedal releases on each harmonic pivot.

Pianists frequently schedule this piece for conservatory juries, competition recitals, and academic examinations. Adapting the original A Minor setting is straightforward: lower tessituras find comfort in G Minor, whereas soprano instruments or solo flutes achieve singing resonance in B Minor. Due to authorial timeline expiry, the piece is in the worldwide public domain for academic and commercial performance alike.
