Assigned an overall Easy rating (foundation study curriculum (RCM Level 1–2)), the composition exercises manual independence. The central obstacle centers on executing clean thumb crossings beneath fingers two and three during scalar shifts. In performing ragtime octave jumps and rhythmic off-beat comping, keep finger knuckles rounded and poised. For acoustic hygiene, avoid heavy damper sustaining that would blur stride jumps. Study Routine: rehearse hands individually with a metronome at slow speeds before coordinating hands together.

Cast in 4/4 (simple quadruple meter), the score delivers a balanced metric groundwork providing grounded stability with primary weight on beat one and secondary stress on beat three. At ♩ = 111 BPM (*Allegretto*), the musical progression remains moderately brisk, bright, and buoyant. Pedagogical directive: avoid pounding downbeats mechanically; keep the line buoyant through intermediate pulses.

Anchored in B-flat Major, this work utilizes a key signature of two flats (B♭, E♭). The composer builds structural coherence around B♭, deploying the relative pole (G Minor) to introduce tonal contrast before resolving through F Major. Harmonically, the progression B → flat → G → Am → F → Dm rests on a half-cadential dominant harmony that builds musical anticipation. Under the fingers, B-flat Major features a noble tonal landscape that supports relaxed arm weight across its two flat accidentals.

Rooted in the classic American syncopated keyboard tradition, Deja Jazz stands as a representative work by Eslot.
