Graded at the Intermediate level (mid-tier conservatory syllabus (ABRSM Grade 5 standard)), the score fosters disciplined keyboard ergonomics. The primary technical hurdle involves projecting the cantabile soprano melody while suppressing inner accompaniment voices. When negotiating cinematic rolling bass sweeps and sustained chord foundations, ensure the singing melody stays dynamically elevated over the accompaniment. Acoustically, coordinate pedaling with chord changes to maintain acoustic warmth. Practice Focus: practice left-hand harmonic leaps with closed eyes to develop spatial keyboard instinct.

Set within the harmonic domain of E Minor (one sharp (F♯, with D♯ harmonic inflection)), the score secures tonal focus on E. Expressive depth is enhanced through secondary pivots into G Major and dominant reinforcement via B Major. Harmonically, the progression Em → Dm → G → C → F → E7 navigates expressive chord variations (F, E7) returning home cleanly. In terms of hand topography, E Minor yields a dark melancholic sonority where the raised accidental D♯ supplies dramatic harmonic tension.

Cast in 4/4 (simple quadruple meter), the score delivers a steady common-time pulse providing natural rhythmic symmetry across four quarter-note subdivisions. At ♩ = 127 BPM (*Allegro con brio*), the musical progression remains brisk with sparkling rhythmic excitement. Pedagogical directive: avoid pounding downbeats mechanically; keep the line buoyant through intermediate pulses.

Performance Applications: In performance programming, Only Human is well matched for popular piano showcases, private lessons, and collaborative sessions.

Transposition Guide: For performers transposing away from E Minor, optimal vocal targets include D Minor for medium-low voices and F-sharp Minor for upper registers. B♭ transposing instruments sound in concert pitch when reading the score in F-sharp Minor.
