Rain Butterfly Piano Sheet Music (Free PDF)

Cast in 3/4 (simple triple meter), the score delivers an elegant three-beat cycle with an expressive first beat and lighter companion pulses. At ♩ = 80 BPM (*Andante con moto*), the musical progression remains moving at a tranquil, forward-leaning pulse. Pedagogical directive: keep forearm weight loose on beat one while gracefully floating through beats two and three.

Tonal grounding is defined by C Major, marked in the score by zero sharps and zero flats. The music alternates stability on C with expressive harmonic excursions toward A Minor and its parallel relation, C Minor. Harmonically, the progression C → G → Am → F → Dm → G7 rests on a half-cadential dominant harmony that builds musical anticipation. From a tactile perspective, navigating this key delivers a white-key keyboard terrain where maintaining firm knuckle support prevents flat-finger fatigue.

Originating within the popular pop sheet music repertoire, Rain Butterfly by 張宇 exemplifies structural economy and melodic clarity. Spanning 5 pages and 90 measures, its source material derives from standard contemporary studio engravings. Catalog registries document the score under identifier `mbid-ae4df7c9-sheetpdf` with ISWC `T-AE4.DF7.C9-1`.

Benchmarked against Intermediate syllabus standards (mid-tier conservatory syllabus (ABRSM Grade 5 standard)), the work develops refined tonal control. Key hurdles center on coordinating independent dynamic levels between hands while maintaining steady metric propulsion. Supporting figures featuring cinematic rolling bass sweeps and sustained chord foundations need relaxed wrist cushioning. Pedal coordination: execute full pedal clears at dynamic changes to highlight intimate moments. Recommended Exercise: play the melody forte while ghost-tapping the accompaniment keys silently beneath the surface.

Performance Applications: In performance programming, Rain Butterfly is well matched for popular piano showcases, private lessons, and collaborative sessions.

Transposition Guide: Adapting the original C Major setting is straightforward: lower tessituras find comfort in B-flat Major, whereas soprano instruments or solo flutes achieve singing resonance in D Major.
