Trois Mazurkas Mignonnes, No. 2 La Sentimentale Piano Sheet Music (Free PDF)

Cast in E-flat Major (three flats (B♭, E♭, A♭)), the composition organizes its melodic arcs around E♭. Dynamic tension arises from modulatory motion toward the relative mode of C Minor, balanced by harmonic stabilization from A-flat Major. Harmonically, the progression E → flat → G → Am → F → Dm pauses expressively on an open half-cadence, leaving harmonic expectation unresolved. At the keyboard, E-flat Major provides a deeply expressive layout that encourages an open, tension-free hand arch on rolling chord figures.

Trois Mazurkas Mignonnes, No. 2 La Sentimentale, credited to Georges Bachmann, occupies an established chapter within the early 18th-century keyboard tradition. this 3-page transcription spans 68 measures, drawing from authoritative Baroque editions. Rights records link the piece to ISWC `T-3DB.8D7.1A-1` and bibliographic identifier `mbid-3db8d71a-sheetpdf`.

Pedagogically suited for Intermediate students (intermediate study curriculum (RCM Level 5–6)), this piece develops essential touch control. Key challenges focus on achieving fluid finger legato without relying on the damper pedal to mask uneven key releases. In sections with transparent two-part polyphony and classical Alberti motion, maintain flexible forearm rotation to prevent stiffness. Pedaling requirement: use light, shallow pedaling to enhance acoustic warmth without muddling inner voices. Recommended Exercise: practice left-hand harmonic leaps with closed eyes to develop spatial keyboard instinct.

Operating within 4/4, this simple quadruple meter generates a steady common-time pulse providing natural rhythmic symmetry across four quarter-note subdivisions. The benchmark tempo of ♩ = 94 BPM (Andantino) conveys a moderately flowing with clear articulation sensibility. During execution, channel energy through the middle beats toward subsequent downbeats to preserve continuous phrasing arcs.

Curatorial Repertoire Role: The work serves as a reliable selection for classical concert programming and conservatory performance audits.

Tessitura & Key Transposition: The default key of E-flat Major suits standard instrumental ranges. Vocalists seeking a lower tessitura can transpose down to D-flat Major, while high-register singers modulate up to F Major. B♭ brass transpose to F Major.
